Haris Rauf central contract has been terminated due to his refusal to play in the Australia series. PCB
The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to terminate the
central contract of fast bowler Haris Rauf after he refused to be a part of the
Test squad for the recent tour of Australia.
PCB said that this decision was taken in the light of a
thorough investigation into the matter in which the views of all stakeholders
were taken into consideration during the full hearing process.
November last year, the Chief Selector of the Pakistan
cricket team, Wahab Riaz, claimed that fast bowler Haris Rauf was in favor of
being a part of Pakistan's Red Ball squad until two days ago, but he backed out
a night before.
Wahab Riaz had also said in this press conference that 'boys
who will give priority to Pakistan, they will be given first priority in our
list.'
"It doesn't matter how big a player he is, but if he
doesn't prefer to play for Pakistan, then he may not even appear in our plans
in the future."
The statement from the PCB also said that the PCB management
had provided an opportunity of hearing to Haris on January 30, 2024 as per the
principles of justice, but his response was found to be unsatisfactory. The PCB
says that playing for Pakistan is an honor for any player, and in the absence
of any medical report or valid reason, refusing to be part of Pakistan's Test
squad is a violation of the Central Contract.
No official statement has been issued by Haris Rauf yet.
