Born in Mumbai on July 10, 1949, Sunil Gavaskar concluded his remarkable Test career with 10,122 runs and 34 centuries in 125 matches, making him, at that time, the highest run scorer and most centuried batsman in Test cricket.

Acting and singing

He portrayed the lead role in the 1980 Marathi film Savli Premachi, which unfortunately did not succeed. In 1988, he made a guest appearance in the Hindi movie Mala Maal.

During the match, Ramiz Raja mentioned Imran Khan and said, "Viv Richards used to bat very aggressively in that era, and Sunil Gavaskar would easily remove himself from the line of Imran Khan's swing balls."
